Global Mountain Explorer 2.0
The Global Mountain Explorer provides visualization and query of the K1, K3 (mountains only or as mountain classes) and K2 (mountains only) global mountain datasets.
The K1 resource used a 1km DEM, which was processed using a combination of elevation, slope and relative relief, to define six classes of mountains.
The K2 resource, also based on a 1km DEM, was developed using ruggedness as the determining factor to define seven classes of mountains grouped by bioclimatic belt.
The K3 resource was developed using a 250m DEM and feature-based algorithms to extract a set of 16 global Hammond landform types, of which four were mountain classes.
